The leaf is a Chinar leaf which resembles a large Maple leaf. Each picture or portrait is painstakingly hand carved into the leaf allowing the veins of the leaf to remain. Ancient Leaf Carvings or old style leaf carvings removed all but the major veins.
Each leaf undergoes a sixty (60) step process. The processing eliminates mold/mildew spores and eliminates the brittleness associated with dry leaves. Once framed a Leaf Carving should last decades. Never hang Leaf Carvings in a window, ultraviolet light can damage and produce fading.
